Meet The Team

Jason Vaillant

General Manager

Born and raised in Sarnia-Lambton, Jason has spent the past 25 years working in the oil & gas industry and with the federal government leading teams and projects across Canada and the United States. Jason holds an MBA from the University of Windsor and has an extensive background in communications and stakeholder relations that will complement the BASES organization, its member companies, and community partners. Jason believes that Sarnia-Lambton is a great place to work and live and is proud to support the local community through the efforts of the IEC, CAER and SLEA for the protection of our local workers, residents and the environment. Outside of work, Jason likes staying active at the rink and on the golf course, boating on beautiful Lake Huron, and spending time with family and friends.

Pamela Knight

Manager, Business Processes

Pamela joined the team in March 2019.  Pamela brings a career in financial services to her role with BASES where she oversees all financial matters and contracts and has worked as an Investment Associate while having a formal education in Administration and Accounting. Pamela practices a healthy lifestyle while running, biking and circuit training, and also enjoys watching and supporting her children play hockey, soccer and other activities, along with taking advantage of the local beaches and nature trails.

Glenda Worsley

Manager, Assurance Processes

Glenda has been part of the IEC team since Jan 2019. She has a B.E. Sc degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Western Ontario and has completed SGS Lead Auditor training to support her in her current role.  Glenda’s experience ranges from working in Technical Service, Quality & Process Engineering and more recently in Safety at the local refineries.  Her passion for safety, developed over 7 years in that role, brought her to the IEC in her current role as Manager of Assurance Processes heading up our Safety Management Assessment audit program. When she is not in the office Glenda enjoys spending time with family and friends and golfing during the fair-weather months.

Steve Butterfield

Manager, Instruction & Accreditation

Steve Butterfield has worked in local industry in various capacities over the years. The work experience he has gained allowed him to transition those learned skills into a Safety Instructor Position with the IEC in 2015. In Steve’s current role he manages the IEC’s Team of Instructors, helping develop their facilitation skills in preparation for accreditation of the various courses the IEC offers. His goals with the IEC continue to focus on improvement of the Safety Culture within the Sarnia-Lambton workforce through high quality safety and compliance training. When not in the office, Steve enjoys playing music and spending time with family and friends.

Nathan VanBelois

Manager, Environmental Programs

Nathan is an experienced environmental professional with a background of 17+ years in maintaining local environmental monitoring networks. Graduating as an Instrumentation & Control Engineering Technologist, he holds the role of Manager, Environmental Programs, overseeing all aspects of the BASES air and water monitoring networks and leading projects related to soil, water, and air. Nathan’s career goal is to foster collaboration among industry, community, First Nations, and the Ministry to create a healthy and transparent environment. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with family and friends and participating in motorsports events. Nathan is excited to be part of an incredible environment with ample opportunities for growth.

Tracy Krull

Communications & Engagement Coordinator

A Sarnia native from a long line of local industry professionals, Tracy brings 20+ years of Marketing & Promotions experience to BASES. Tracy previously worked in the Gaming industry as a Marketing Coordinator, with a strong focus on communications, event planning, and social media. In her role as Communications and Engagement Coordinator, Tracy works closely with BASES member companies and local industry professionals to promote workplace safety and emergency preparedness initiatives within the local community. Outside of work, Tracy enjoys travelling and socializing with friends and family, especially her two teenage children.

Steve Baker

Instructional Team Lead

With the IEC since 2017, Steve was born and raised in Sarnia which has given him a strong understanding of the area’s Health and Safety Culture. Prior to joining the IEC, Steve had a 25+ year career in health care, specializing in Occupation Health and Disease. When not at work, Steve enjoys volunteering his time with area sports, and is heavily involved in local hockey and lacrosse. 

Josh Lane

Instructional Specialist

Josh has worked as an Instructor at the IEC since June 2021. A graduate of the CPET program at Lambton College, he began his career as a process operator in local industry. He then earned a BSc. from the University of Guelph and worked for 9 years as an EHS professional on many different projects. Most recently, he worked in the EHS department at a chemical plant making sure workers had the tools needed to go home safely every day. He brings this enthusiasm for safety to his courses at the IEC. Outside of work, Josh enjoys spending time with family and friends, travelling, and hockey.

Kenzie Ravensberg

Instructional Specialist

Kenzie has been a part of the IEC team since July of 2018. Kenzie is one of several Safety Instructors at the IEC and brings great passion for what he does. His goal with the IEC is to contribute towards “Goal Zero” and help ensure everyone makes it home at the end of the day in the same condition that they showed up. When Kenzie isn’t in the office you can often find him spending time with friends, family, and his pets.

Paul Spearman

Instructional Specialist

Paul had a 40-year career at Imperial Oil that provided him the opportunity to do many jobs, including spending 15 years in the Training Department. Paul brings a wealth of knowledge to the IEC where he enjoys meeting many workers with a wide range of experiences and hearing firsthand their opinions and ideas on how we all can work safely. Outside of work, Paul enjoys spending time with his family, a host of outdoor activities and has spent the last 35 years officiating football.

Michelle Farrar

Instructional Specialist

Michelle joined the IEC in 2022 as a recent graduate from Athabasca University’s Bachelor of Commerce program with a previous CPET diploma from Lambton College. Michelle has experience working in local industry as a process operator and has made a personal commitment to help build a safer community through the courses she facilitates at the IEC. When not at work, Michelle likes to keep busy outdoors playing soccer, competing in triathlons, sailing, and sharing those experiences with her family.  

Kim McKee

Registration & Administration Associate

Kim is one of the IEC’s longest serving employees, having been with the organization for more than 25 years. Prior to joining the IEC, Kim completed the Medical Secretary program at Lambton College and spent time working at a local physician’s office. When not at the IEC, Kim enjoys spending time with her family.

Susanne Cook

Administrative Specialist

Susanne comes to the IEC with nearly 40 years experience as a travel agent, working with her clients to create unforgettable customer experiences. Susanne’s passion for providing outstanding customer service lends itself to the smooth and productive operations of the IEC. Susanne looks forward to enrolling herself in all the courses offered at the IEC, to gain first-hand knowledge of the course content and safety needs of the Sarnia-Lambton workforce. Outside of the office, you can find Susanne out walking or boating, and spending time with her children and grandchildren.  

Lynette Jones

Executive Assistant

Lynette joined the BASES team in 2022 as an Executive Assistant, with an extensive administrative background spanning more than 30+ years; previously holding positions as a law clerk and courthouse reporter. Lynette enjoys continuous learning and holds a number of different accreditations, including her Legal Assistant Diploma, Mental Health First Aid Basics Certification and Ontario Insurance License. Lynette fills her spare time hanging out with her family and pets, enjoys travelling, exploring nature, and catching the occasional concert. Lynette is excited to join the BASES team and the opportunity to support the organization’s contribution to health & safety in the region
